Avenues in Tourism

A lecture on “Avenues in Tourism” was successfully conducted by Placement cell in coordination with Tourism department of our college in 23 Feb 2026 under the guidance of our worthy Principal Ms. Archana Verma. The session aimed to create awareness about the diverse career opportunities and emerging sectors within the tourism industry.
The resource person Mr. Amit Dahiya, assistant professor in Tourism management from D.A.V College Faridabad explained how tourism integrates various sectors such as hospitality, transport, travel services, culture, and Entertainment. During the session, different career avenues in tourism were discussed in detail, including:
Travel agency and tour operations
Tourist guiding and interpretation
Hospitality and hotel management
Airline and cruise industry
Event and MICE tourism
Adventure and eco-tourism
Medical and wellness tourism
Digital tourism and travel blogging
The speaker emphasized the importance of skill development, communication abilities, destination knowledge, foreign languages, and customer-handling skills for building a successful career in tourism. Students were also informed about entrepreneurship opportunities such as starting travel agencies, home stays, tour consultancy, and online travel platforms.
The lecture was interactive, with students actively participating in discussions and asking questions about career prospects, required qualifications, and industry trends. The session concluded with valuable guidance encouraging students to enhance their practical exposure through internships, field visits, and skill-based training. Dr. Preeti Raina, Dr Anita, Dr Neelam & Dr. Anuj members were also present along with students during the session.
