Group Discussion on “Qualities of a Tour Guide” The Department of Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management (BTTM) organized a Group Discussion (GD) on 20th Feb, 2026 on the topic “Qualities of a Tour Guide” to enhance students, communication skills, subject knowledge, and confidence. The activity was conducted with active participation from BTTM students and faculty members. The session began with a brief introduction by the coordinator, who explained the purpose of the group discussion and highlighted the importance of tour guides in the tourism industry. Students were then divided into small groups, and each group discussed various qualities required to become an effective and professional tour guide. During the discussion, students expressed their views on essential qualities such as excellent communication skills, in-depth destination knowledge, leadership ability, patience, adaptability, problem-solving skills, and a pleasing personality. Participants also emphasized the importance of cultural sensitivity, time management, and the ability to handle emergencies and diverse tourist groups. The discussion encouraged teamwork, critical thinking, and respectful listening among students. Faculty member observed the discussion and later provided constructive feedback on students’ presentation style, clarity of ideas, confidence, and group coordination. The session concluded with a summary highlighting that a successful tour guide must possess a blend of knowledge, interpersonal skills, and a service-oriented attitude to create memorable travel experiences for tourists.
